Mineweb: Ivanhoe may have to speed up coal-fired power facility at Oyu Tolgoi

Ivanhoe Mines may have to construct a planned coal-fired power plant ahead of schedule, which could impact the Oyu Tolgoi construction schedule and adversely affect the ability to achieve full commercial production in 2013. Construction of a 220-kilovolt power transmission line along a 95-kilometer route south to the Mongolia-China international border is proceeding as construction of the towers was completed in October and line stringing is expected to begin in Spring 2012. The plan is for Chinese contractors to extend the transmission line across the Mongolian border and tie it into the neighboring Inner Mongolian electrical grid in China. To read the full article, click hereIvanhoe may have to speed up coal-fired power facility at Oyu Tolgoi
